Assumption of Mary Church, Balatonfüred

Located in the Balatonarács suburb, the Roman Catholic church was probably an expansion of a medieval shrine at the end of the 18th century. Archaeologist in Balatonarács excavated tombs from the era of the Hungarian's arrival in the Carpathian Basin, the settlement is mentioned in a document from 1118, and in 1373 the church that was probably the basis of today's building already stood here.

According to historians, the Baroque main altar of the church is at least 50 years older than the building itself but there is no information about how it got to be in the church.
